A new study published in Stroke finds that artificially sweetened beverages are associated with dementia and stroke. Researchers analyzed data from nearly 3000 participants and found that those who consumed 1 or more artificially sweetened beverage per day were more likely to suffer from incident dementia and ischemic stroke. They did not see the same effects for sugar-sweetened beverages.
